Mr. Doyin Owolabi is a graduate of economics from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile Ife. He holds a Masters degree in Industrial and Labour Relations from the University of Lagos, Akoka.

He trained as a Chartered Accountant at Akintola Willis and Co (now Deloitte Nigeria). In 1988, he joined a new Insurance company (the Nigerian French Insurance co), which he helped nurture from cradle up to the point of being quoted on the floor of the Stock Exchange in 1005. In 2007, he retired from the company to set up his own accountancy practice, Messrs Doyin Owolabi & Co. (Chartered Accountants). He also set up a consulting outfit (Doyin Owolabi Consulting Associates).

He is a Past Chairman of the Accounting Technical Committee of the Nigerian Insurers Association, Past Honorary Treasurer of both Association of Professional Bodies in Nigeria and the Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa, Past Board member of Pan African Federation of Accountants,  past Board member of the Nigerian Accounting Standards Board (now FRCN), Past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institue of Management (Chartered).

Mr. Owolabi was a Board member of the Lagos State Water Regulatory  Commission. He is into livestock farming and events management.

He is happily married with children.
